After many, many hours in airports and cramped into plane after plane, we arrived in Abakan, Siberia today. It has taken us 2 days to get here! The Abakan airport has not been rebuilt and looks like it would have in the 1980s. We deboarded the plane on the tarmac and took a bus to a concrete block building. Photos later!

Tonight we will be in a nice, updated Soviet-Era hotel. Tomorrow we start roughing it at the yurt camp…after the 8 hour drive. There are not super-highways in Siberia, the trains are the main long-distance transportation for goods and people, so our bus will drive through the mountains rather slowly.

Now I am off to try to adjust my biological clock and eat breakfast.
